It is never early for kids to master computer science. After all, we live in a world where everything is spinning around computers and the web, so why not to allow our children experience it at the early age? I usually love the fact that children are like sponges. They can copy everything they see and they learn it pretty fast. The problem is when they see some things that they are still too small to do, like messing with electricity or heating the oven. I swear, I get the urge to throw away my oven when I see my son touching it. But he is too young to understand what can happen, so here I am, chasing him every single day not to get his hands on everything he sees.
But even though he is too young and he still can’t talk with being completely understood by everyone, even me sometimes, I am shocked by all the things he managed to do with computers. Although some of them were done by accident, it is still impressive. He is always around the house and both my husband and I are working on computers. On the bright side, he is never bored by watching us working and he tries from time to time to take over our business. The thing that is impressive is that he already learned how to work with a keyboard and the mouse and he already knows what programs are from typing and how to enter them. He is even better with smartphones. He knows how to call, how to text (although he doesn’t know the words so there are too many codes that people get from us, it is fine), and the thing that he loves the most is taking selfies. Just to get this straight, he didn’t catch it from me.
I know what you all are going to say. He is too young to play with devices all day. He should be outside, playing in the garden, playing with plastic or stuffed toys, drawing. I totally agree with you and he does it all. Right now, I can’t even walk through my room because of all of his toys. But, when he is a bit older, is it better for him that we let him play games all the time or we should give him the chance to learn something by using PC? And, let’s face it, we can’t forbid him using computers because all the other kids have it and he would get too far behind if they all knew how to work with it and he didn’t even know how to turn it on. It is like not having the Tamagotchi in our time.
